FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: December 7, 2006
WAVEFRONT COMPLETES LABORATORY STUDY OF OPTIMAL POWERWAVE™
FIELD PARAMETERS FOR GLOBAL OIL PRODUCER
EDMONTON, Alta Dec 7,
2006/ Wavefront Energy and Environmental Services Inc., a provider
and licensor of its proprietary fluid flow process for improved oil
recovery (Powerwave™)
and groundwater remediation (Primawave™)
is pleased to announce that it has completed the laboratory study
previously announced.
The client that paid for the study operates in over one hundred
countries and is one of the top five global oil producers. The
specific goal of the laboratory study was to determine if optimal
Powerwave™
parameters could divert injected water from a high-flow rate core to
a low-flow rate core in dual core experiments. This was the first
ever set of tests, initiated by a major producer, to define the
effect of
Powerwave™
on water diversion. All nine tests were performed with, observed,
and verified by an experienced laboratory research technician from
the University of Waterloo’s Civil Engineering Department.
Powerwave™
had strong positive effects on overall flow rates and was able to
divert water injection from the high-flow core to the low-flow core.
Overall, with
Powerwave™
flow rates increased in both cores from a low of 9% to a high of
116% with an average increase in flow rate of 50%. For tests using
an optimized
Powerwave™
waveform, flow diversion from the high-flow core to the low-flow
core increased from a low of 4% to a high of 39% with an average
increase of 18%. Given the positive nature of the results the client
has initiated discussions with the Company on field implementation
of
Powerwave™.
Wavefront President and CEO Brett Davidson stated, “The implications
of such results to the client cannot be overstated and we are
pleased that the production company has initiated discussions on
field implementation of
Powerwave™.
Many secondary oil recovery efforts are made in reservoirs where
water is co-injected into numerous zones having various flow
characteristics. With its proven ability to divert water to zones
where water uptake is critical to oil production,
Powerwave™
may ultimately result in millions of additional barrels of oil being
recovered.”
